Since 1986, our goal at Hedgehog Hill Shorthairs has been to produce German Shorthaired Pointers that are sound in mind and body and who possess the ability to point and handle wild birds.  Serious hunters will appreciate how quickly they develop into top notch grouse, woodcock or pheasant dogs. In 1996, our goals expanded to include success in the show ring as well as serious wild bird hunting. Our dogs have won Best in Shows, National Specialty Show placements, and Specialty show wins and placements in AKC, CKC and CFC venues in the US and Canada. We strive to produce dogs that can bring home the birds and the big ribbons, all while being loving and responsive companions that cuddle on couch or bed.  

At Hedgehog Hill, we strive for health, temperament, nose and conformational correctness to the German Shorthaired Pointer breed standard all in one package. Our current breeding dogs are all CHIC certified, we are proud to participate in this program. We are Merit members of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America, the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Canada, the Canadian Kennel Club and the Katahdin German Shorthaired Pointer club. We have received the American Kennel Club Breeder of Merit designation as evidenced by the AKC logo on our website.
